I’ve been working on this campaign as a side project for the past few months. I decided to redesign the Griffith Observatory website cause it desperately needs it. This is the site I wished they had.
What an amazing outdoor campaign for Vancouver’s science museum. Strong headlines, strong visuals, the perfect ad. AND SCIENCE! As Jesse Pinkman would say, “YEAH SCIENCE!” probably add “bitch!” in there for safe measure.
A really out there execution that forces people to stop and read and walk away with a little something that they learned. What a great tagline too, “We can explain.” Damn good. File this under inspiration.

It’s time to die! This fun animation poking fun at the dumb ways to die is both cute and awesomely morbid. Some of these ways to die are pretty badass to me but definitely train deaths are pretty lame. I’d wanna go out with a bang! Here’s the site www.dumbwaystodie.com and they have a tumblr full of gifs.

Evolution of Digital Advertising by PointRoll
Pretty crazy how relatively new most of these social networking sites are.

A very smart way to engage people. I love creative participation executions. They’re always fun.

How far will you go for Fantastic Delites? Delite-o-matic by Clemenger BBDO Adelaide
Taking the whole “what would you do for a Klondike bar?” but getting the consumer involved. Seems like they’d go pretty far for these Fantastic Delites. They know their product is good and people will go pretty far for a free box.

I love this campaign. Clear, brief, and simple. I went to Van Gogh elementary so naturally I love anything Van Gogh related. Dali is also one of my all time favorite artists. Surrealism FTW.

World’s smallest Ikea store in a web banner! A clever concept and execution. This is very similar to Uniqlo’s calendar technology that uses image and product. Ugh, I love Ikea, I can spend a whole day there.

Wonderful animation about the challenges of the creative process. Try and try again!

Hilarious video advertising Central Institute of Technology in Australia. I am often vexed by this very dilemma of teleportation. Hopefully teleportation is developed and perfected in my lifetime.

I despise Pinterest. I see very little use for it. I already use Tumblr as a method to keep all images, inspirations, etc in one place. BUT, my one frustration with Tumblr + Pinterest, is the lack of accurate sources. It grinds my gears when I find something amazing and can’t seem to find the correct name or source for image. But that’s where Svpply comes in. You can “want” an item and BOOM, link to purchase said item. Genius. But one thing that RPA got so right is that Pinterest, and other variants, waste time. I’ve wasted plenty of hours infinite scrollin on Svpply and Tumblr. I think we all need a break from the internet.

Laser cut seaweed. Not sure how they were able to assemble the sushi since the stability of the seaweed is compromised from laser cutting these amazing patterns. Another innovation that adds design to food.

Clear, Brief, and Simple. Using reflective paint for open all night seems so obvious. And to do it first, man, props to Cossette for their execution.

Week 2: Good tips for Doritos ads. This week’s homework has me stumped.. how do you sell dust pans? Who even buys dust pans? Oh well, I love a challenge.
Received some disheartening news today that pretty much toppled my frustrations I’ve been feeling (so vague, I know) but learning to just leave my emotions aside and be creative about addressing the problem. Plus going to class and getting my Mastodon tickets have surely got me back on the bright side. My birthday is gona be THE BEST! Can’t wait for Mastodon, Ghost, and Opeth!
